Pop Smoke One Dollar Offer Turned $1.5M Lawsuit

Pop Smoke One Dollar Offer Turned $1.5M Lawsuit The Music Industry Report INC.

On November 24, journalist Victoria Inoya, filed a lawsuit against Pop Smoke's record label Victor Victor Worldwide. According to XXL, the lawsuit claimed Pop Smoke's label used a sound bite from a Rolling Loud interview conducted with Inoya in the song "Tunnel Vision".

At :58 seconds into the interview, Inoya asks Pop Smoke the question,

"What do you want your impact to be on the music industry, like a hundred years from now you want people to remember Pop Smoke did that, he did what?"

Prior to the audio snippet being used in the outro of Tunnel Vision, Pop Smoke's label reached out to Inoya and offered her $1 to use the audio clip in the song. Inoya turned down the offer and tried to counter but was past the album submission deadline and was informed by the label that the clip would not be used.

Fast-forward to July 3rd when the posthumous album "Shoot for the stars aim for the moon" was released, Inoya discovered the label had actually used the audio clip at the end of the outro song "Tunnel Vision (Outro)".

To make matters worse, at 1:41 into the song, you can hear that Inoya's audio was replaced by a different voice. However, Pop Smoke's audio was the original audio.

Victoria Inoya is suing the Pop Smoke estate for $1.5M in profit loss and copyright infringement. More on this story to come.
