In a recent interview, Shaggy has revealed how he was approached by Rihanna’s team to feature on the album. The catch was to audition for the role. He declined the invitation since he was not ready to audition.
Shaggy is a Jamaican reggae musician with 7 Grammy nominations and 2 Grammy awards to his name. So imagine his surprise being called to audition.
In his own words:
“They approached me for the Rihanna project yet. There’s a lot of great people involved but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record, I’ll leave that to younger guys. But from what I hear it should be good.”
He also went on to support Rihanna on her dive into the Dancehall scenery maintaining that she will bring the much-needed competition into the Dancehall scenery. Shaggy believes more people doing the art form will only serve good purposes.
Fans all over the world have been eagerly waiting for the release of R9, Rihanna’s new album. It was supposed to drop December 2019 but fans have been left frustrated when no album dropped.
Meanwhile, Rihanna continues to tease her fans with the release of her new album, with a source claiming that the job of finding 12 to 15 songs to be on the album out of hundreds is a tough one. What is sure, however, is that the album will be released this year.
