Common made one lucky musician's day over the weekend when he decided to perform a surprise freestyle on the streets in New Orleans. It all went down Sunday outside the Ritz Carlton where a talented freestyler named Ray Wimley was spitting a dope verse when Common noticed the talents of the young rapper and decided to join in on the fun.
Common Joins Street Singer for Amazing Freestyle
"I was riding down the street a few years ago in New Orleans and ran across this dope street musician named @ray_wimley," the star said. He added, "What caught my attention was that he was really and truly freestyling! And he was GOOD!"
He then went on to explain, "So this year at @essencefest our paths crossed again but this time I joined in. I’m telling y’all right now, he’s special!!"
The young musician and Common continued to battled back and forth for over four and a half minutes, both calling out words that the other could play off of, and both stars didn't stumble once.
Common is no stranger to spitting bars and is considered one of the best in the game, having done so for over thirty years.
Ray is blown away by the attention he's received from his awesome performance with the legendary rapper and has been posting his thanks to Common.
